The full English translation of the name Pec pod Snezkou is "The furnace under Snow Mountain", and this gives us hints to its location and to its past. Located in the eastern part of Krkonoše directly under Snezka (Snow Mountain) 1602 m., Pec pod Snezkou, with a permanent population of 600, used to be a copper mining town. It has now become a popular holiday resort both in winter and in summer, with good hotels and traditional pensions spread throughout the area.
